Women's Declaration International USA (WDI USA) is the American chapter of Women's Declaration International (WDI), a global volunteer-led organization dedicated to protecting women's sex-based rights. WDI USA is organized as a 501(c)4 nonprofit and operates with a cross-partisan coalition of volunteer women from across the country — including academics, writers, health practitioners, organizers, and activists.
WDI USA's founding document is the Declaration on Women's Sex-Based Rights, which reaffirms the sex-based rights of women and girls as enumerated in the 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and subsequent international agreements. The Declaration challenges the replacement of the legal category of sex with "gender identity" in law and public policy, and has been signed by tens of thousands of women in more than 150 countries.
WDI USA engages in legislative testimony, public education, legal interventions, and coalition-building to advance sex-based legal protections in the United States. The organization has submitted testimony on numerous state and federal bills, participated in federal court cases, and published a journalism style guide and policy resources. WDI USA also maintains state contacts across all 50 states to advance the Declaration at the local and legislative level.
