The International Consortium on Female Sport (ICFS) is a nonpartisan, single-issue international lobby group launched globally on January 9, 2023, dedicated to the preservation of the female sport category. Co-founded by Dr. Linda Blade — Edmonton-based sport performance coach, PhD in Kinesiology, and former Canadian track and field champion — the ICFS brings together female sport advocacy groups from seven founding countries: Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Australia, and New Zealand.
The ICFS position is that the female sport category must consist of biological females only — competitors who are biologically female and who have not experienced male puberty. The organization argues that sport is a unique domain: where most anti-discrimination law requires inclusion and assimilation, sport requires sex segregation for the safety and fairness of female athletes. ICFS advocates that women must have a seat at the table in any consultation on sports eligibility policy, at every level from community to elite competition.
ICFS has engaged with international sports governing bodies, attended and demonstrated at national powerlifting championships, and lobbied Athletics Canada and provincial athletic bodies on eligibility policy. Dr. Blade co-founded ICFS in her capacity as both a sport performance professional and as a representative of Canadian Women's Sex-Based Rights (caWsbar). The consortium continues to expand, with member groups from Italy, Mexico, and Central America joining since launch. Sports advocacy groups and individuals who support the preservation of the female category are invited to sign the ICFS position statement at icfsport.org.
